The Sarlat Drawings
In 2006, I exhibited in Sarlat at 'La Maison de Boetie' , which looks out onto the Catherdale & Episcopal Palace. Sarlat is incredible, one of the beautiful jewels of the European Renaissance. When I was there, it was during during 'la belle saison ', the first two weeks of August, when everyone, but everyone was on holiday (or so it seemed). The atmosphere was amazing: the spectacles, the buskers, the crowds, the amusement... 'Bel Nuit d'Ete, Belle Ballade en Europe' . I did some sketching from the gallery window.

I went back in wintertime & drew the 'Hotel de Gisson'. It was a cold Monday afternoon, the shops were all shut & there was nobody around but me & a few workers fixing the pavements.
