the basic skills of painting

The course provides you with lots of time for you to paint, with the tutor on hand for individual help.

There are also three mornings of structured painting lessons for those who'd like to learn or relearn the basic skills of painting. These are practical & hands-on, where you actually paint & have the chance to experiment with the core components of painting:

*Learn to look in a way that will help you paint

* Drawing * Tonality * Colour * Composition

* Materials & Basic Techniques

* How to paint 'en plein air' & sketch on the spot

" The lesson on tonality was absolutely brilliant! The best presentation I've ever had. I now feel that I can deal with those tones in my painting. " - Elizabeth Martin, Lanquais Alumni.

Painters have always studied their art ... Colour Sphere by Otto Runge, 1810. (who was not a Lanquais Student).

advanced level painting course

....Not always evident to find what really suits one's own creativity & one's own style

The painting course is also appropriate for those looking for an advanced level painting course. Dialoguing with an practicing mid-career painter will encourage the development of your personal style. You will be helped with the practicalities, given suggestions as to techniques & ... hopefully... the other more elusive sides of creativity. Making your next step up to the next level is something that is often very difficult to do alone & without support.The course hopes to give your creativity that extra boost.

The tutor reccomends that you have a chat on the phone before booking to talk through yuur learning goals.

"By my teaching I hope to inspire you to personal activity and to help you find your way." Robert Henri

.

"....It's funny how you can keep being told something abstract for years and not fully hear it until something connects it to your own work and goals. Today I connected with the information better than ever before because of things you said to me during our workshop.......It's an eye-opener to think of this key aspect of decision-making more consciously, and I'm grateful to you for raising my awarenss of this." - Juliette Carignan, Lanquais alumni
